Last verified against the RuneScape Wiki: 28 September 2026 ·

Short answer

  • Best: Buy feather packs (2,000 feathers for 15,000 coins) from the fishing shops. Since March 2026 these shops build up to a week of stock.

  • Early game: Chickens drop feathers in stacks of 5, 10 or 15.

  • Alternative: Snaring birds with Hunter gives coloured feathers, which also work for fly fishing.

Ironman tips

  • Gerrant's Fishy Business (Port Sarim) and Lovecraft's Tackle (Witchaven) share one stock, so buying from both does not double it.
  • Prawnbroker perks remove the need for feathers when fly fishing and barbarian fishing.
  • Each feather from a pack costs 7.5 coins versus 6 bought singly, but packs are far quicker.

Common questions
